Biodiesel Production Using High Speed Blender
A commercial household fruit blender can be used as a simple, less time-consuming, and effective biodiesel production technique. A 1680 W commercial household fruit blender is used for biodiesel production. Due to the synergistic effect derived from the very high rotational speed of the blender blades integrated with micro-mixing level from cavitation phenomena, heat and mass transfer becomes greatly enhanced. The vigorous stirring inherently increases the temperature of the methanol-oil mixture to more than 60 °C in less than 3 min, thus, a provision of external heating is not required. A cooling fan is also provided to keep the blender cool during operation. An RTD sensor with temperature controller cuts-off the blender when temperature exceeds set limit.
